I love to hear from my readers and friends!</p><p><br></p><p>Keep reading!!</p><p><br></p><p>WEs </p> ]]> https://vegaswes.com/blog/poem-i-have-not-published-many-of-my-early-writings-including-this Wes Davis https://vegaswes.com/blog/poem-i-have-not-published-many-of-my-early-writings-including-this Blog Fri, 5 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Blog post. <![CDATA[ <p>I have not published many of my early writings, including this poem.  I include it here as my holiday offering.  I hope you enjoy it.</p><p>WINTER’S BREATH </p><p>© Wes Davis 2/2/2014</p><p> </p><p>The cold North wind cuts through your coat like an icy dagger</p><p>The clear blue sky is deceptive and the sun’s warmth is brief</p><p> Taken from you like a purse by a thief running by as you stagger</p><p>Fighting the cold, and the wind and hoping for some relief</p><p> </p><p>Breath freezes as it takes its leave of you, pausing as it falls to earth</p><p>Surrendering to the shock of the frigid air</p><p>Brittle grass crinkles underfoot and the trees are bare</p><p>Yet there is a beauty in the land’s despair – simplicity in this dearth</p><p> </p><p>The despair of winter will soon be gone and Spring will come</p><p>But not before winter has its say and its due course is done</p><p>All seasons are here for a reason – </p><p> </p><p>Enjoy the clean fresh snow of winter, the crisp cold air, and clear skies</p><p>Snow turns to rain, Rain turns to sunshine, spring will soon arrive</p><p> </p><p>Such are the seasons. None stay too long </p><p>Even the cold North wind will soon be gone.</p><p> </p> ]]>
